Imagination Library

The perfect complement to the SPARK! Program

Join the hundreds of Sunshine Coast families and caregivers whose children receive free books every month in the mail!

School District 46 has partnered with the Dolly Parton Imagination Library to bring quality picture books to the homes and child care centres of children under the age of five. The SPARK! Program has been designated as the official registration site for the Imagination Library.

The Imagination Library is the perfect complement to the SPARK! Program, which runs free information sessions for parents with young children three times a year until the child enters Kindergarten. Families register for the Imagination Library by attending the SPARK! program.  To find out more about the SPARK! program, click here.

Local sponsors of the program include private donors and the Sunshine Coast Lions Club. All families with children under five who live on the Sunshine Coast can register at SPARK!

To register, email: register4spark@sd46.bc.ca or phone (604)885-6787.

The Canadian Language and Literacy Network reports that reading books with young children is an important way that families can support their child’s learning and development. Research shows that children who have books in their homes come to school with important knowledge that is predictive of early literacy success. By pairing the Imagination Library with a family support program such as SPARK!, parents receive valuable information on ways to engage their young children when sharing these books together.
